Alan Cavanagh BSc, DC, LCC

Born and raised in Dublin, Alan moved to Edinburgh in 2002 after obtaining his chiropractic qualifications from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic at the University of Glamorgan.

After several years in clinical practice, Alan founded Morningside Chiropractic Clinic, establishing a centre of excellence that has grown into one of Edinburgh’s most respected and trusted chiropractic and massage clinics. Under his leadership, the clinic has expanded to house the largest chiropractic team in Edinburgh, offering a comprehensive and collaborative approach to patient care.

With over 20 years of clinical experience, Alan has developed a strong reputation for his patient-centred, evidence-based approach. His work focuses on the assessment, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint dysfunction, helping patients achieve long-term recovery and optimal spinal health.

Alan’s first introduction to chiropractic came through personal experience — witnessing the remarkable recovery of his father from debilitating back pain that had nearly led to surgery. This experience sparked a lifelong commitment to helping others through chiropractic care, blending scientific understanding with genuine compassion for each patient’s wellbeing.

Alan is currently the only BUPA-registered chiropractor within the clinic and is a long-standing member of both the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) and the Royal College of Chiropractors (RCC). He continues to stay at the forefront of professional development, ensuring his clinical practice reflects the latest standards in chiropractic and musculoskeletal health.

When not in clinic, Alan enjoys spending time with his family, exploring Scotland’s outdoors, and engaging with the local Morningside community that has supported his practice for over two decades. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he has a particular passion for rugby, cricket, and still plays competitive hockey in the East District Leagues — while also ever striving to improve his golf game.

Vicky Pittman MChiro DC

Vicky is originally from the South of England but now thoroughly enjoys life in Edinburgh, where she has lived since 2011. She graduated with a Master of Chiropractic degree from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic at the University of Glamorgan, having previously completed a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy at the University of Hertfordshire in 2004.

Before qualifying as a chiropractor, Vicky worked extensively with elite artistic gymnasts, providing both pre-habilitative and rehabilitative care to help them stay functionally fit and perform at their best. This experience deepened her appreciation for the body’s remarkable capacity to move, adapt, and recover.

Since graduating, Vicky has developed a special interest in pre- and post-partum care and has completed a range of postgraduate courses in pregnancy-related chiropractic treatment. She is also trained in Western acupuncture (dry needling) and kinesio-taping techniques, and is a proud member of the Scottish Chiropractic Association.

Vicky is a qualified APPI Matwork Pilates instructor, which supports her whole-body approach to recovery, mobility, and strength. She enjoys integrating Pilates principles into her chiropractic care to help patients build resilience, stability, and long-term wellbeing.

A former elite artistic gymnast herself, Vicky competed at regional and national level for over a decade— winning medals both nationally and internationally. Her own experience of overcoming injury through chiropractic care inspired her to pursue the profession.

Outside of work, Vicky loves to travel and plays netball for her local team.

Tony Bleekers DC (MTech Chiro)

Tony grew up in South Africa, where he completed his Chiropractic degree at the University of Johannesburg. He went on to start and manage his own private practice in Rivonia, working within a large multidisciplinary centre alongside physiotherapists, biokineticists, and other healthcare professionals.

A few years later, Tony moved to the Netherlands, where he worked for over two years in a thriving chiropractic practice in the south of the country before relocating to Edinburgh.

Tony became passionate about chiropractic after receiving his first adjustment as a teenager—he once woke up unable to move his neck, and chiropractic care helped him recover so profoundly that it inspired a lifelong commitment to the profession.

With years of hands-on experience, Tony has developed expertise in a range of soft tissue techniques, including FAKTR (Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab), a method that combines Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM) with functional rehabilitation exercises. He has also undertaken additional training in extremity manipulation and muscle testing techniques, which complement his holistic approach to patient care.

Tony is a member of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) and the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). He enjoys helping people from all backgrounds and empowering his patients to understand their bodies and take an active role in their recovery.

Outside of the clinic, Tony has a keen interest in sports, particularly running, rugby, and cricket. He continues to play touch rugby, having competed at a high level and even made the squad for the Over-30 Men’s World Cup team for South Africa.
